This is Today / 30 : Summer Goodbye

And all at once, summer collapsed into fall

Here's to the end of a summer that didn't quite feel like summer. This year, we were pretty submerged in our San Francisco summer (aka winter) and didn't end up chasing warmer days elsewhere like we usually do. Despite our lack of trying, there were momentary snippets of summer that we savored, like running in big grassy fields with our puppy, spontaneous picnics, barefoot football on the Fourth of July, winding down the Pacific Coast Highway, eating outdoor meals in Santa Barbara, spending an entire sticky day on the river, and roaming the prairie at dusk. Maybe next year we'll seek out more sunsets and maybe even host that bonfire we've been wanting for years, but for now, we'll focus on fall and go out of our way to crunch every leaf in our way.
