This past week, our Sincerely design team packed up our bags and headed to Palm Springs, CA for an amazing three days at Designer Vaca, a designer retreat for creative ladies. While I had followed the retreat on Instagram (not gonna lie) over the past few years, being able to attend this year was wonderfully motivating and relaxing. From talks by Bob Goff, Elle Luna, and Jessica Hische, chalkboard group discussions, exploring Palm Springs with a group of incredible designers, and being surrounded by such creative ladies, it was an inspiring, educational, and fun three days.
Besides the excitement of attending Designer Vaca, the fact that it was held at the Ace Hotel made things even more exciting! I couldn't help but gush at the details and take pictures of all the modern-cool meets 60s vintage interiors throughout the hotel. Luckily, being surrounded by a bunch of designers, everyone was pretty much snapping pictures too.
Between Designer Vaca sessions, we had an afternoon to explore Palm Springs and ended up squishing into a car and visiting a nearby cactus museum, stopping by Elvis' Honeymoon Hideaway, exploring the residential areas for cool architecture, eating giant sandwiches from a downtown deli, and (finally) making room for some pool time as the sun was setting. There is a certain slowness about Palm Springs that made our entire stay completely laid-back and relaxing, a definite change from the usual city life.
While definitely too short, I'm thankful for the opportunity to hang out at Designer Vaca this year! It's rare to have the chance to be surrounded by such creative people and in such a beautiful location. I loved meeting so many new designers, sharing stories and advice!
